Synenco agrees to $478M takeover bid from Total

Almost a year after putting itself up for sale, Synenco Energy Inc. said Monday it has reached a deal with a unit of French firm Total SA to be acquired for $478 million.

Christopher Allen Vanmoorsel, 26, of Fort Saskatchewan was killed when his 2004 Ford F-150 collided with a 797B Heavy Hauler Caterpillar about 8 p.m. Saturday.

This is the first fatality in Albian Sands mine’s six-year history.

Company earns first ever reclamation certificate

A 104-hectare parcel of land Syncrude began to reclaim in the mid-1980s received a reclamation certificate last month - the first ever oil sands land reclamation certificate to be issued by the provincial government.
The forested area, known as Gateway Hill, has hiking trails and lookout points and is about 35 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.
